Submersible Pump | Applications & Working
Submersible Pump
- Each submersible pump means a device which becomes a hermetically (airtight) sealed motor close-coupled into the pump body.
- That whole assembly is submerged into the fluid to be pumped.
- This significant main advantage of this type of pump means that it prevents pump cavitation, some problem compared with some high elevation difference within the pump also the fluid surface.
- Submersible pumps push fluid upon the surface as opposed before jet pumps having to pull fluids. Submersibles mean higher efficient than jet pumps.

Working Principle
- Electric submersible pumps continue multistage centrifugal pumps operating into a vertical position.
- Liquids, accelerated with the impeller, lose their kinetic energy into the diffuser anywhere a conversion of kinetic through pressure energy takes place.
- This is a unique main operational mechanism of radial also mixed flow pumps.
- This pump shaft does connect to some gas separator either this protector with some mechanical coupling about this bottom from the pump.
- Fluids enter the pump through an intake screen also are lifted by the pump stages.
- Different parts include some radial bearings (bushings) distributed along each length of every shaft providing radial support into the pump shaft.
- An unforced thrust bearing takes up part from this axial forces arising within the pump but most from those forces remain absorbed by this protector’s thrust bearing.
Applications
Submersible pumps exist found within many applications
- Single-stage pumps remain used during drainage, sewage pumping, general industrial pumping including slurry pumping
- Both mean also popular including pond filters
- Multiple stage submersible pumps remain typically lowered down some borehole more most typically applied during a residential advertisement, municipal including industrial water extraction [abstraction] water wells further in oil wells.
- Submersible pumps include sewage treatment plants, water well extremely deep good drilling, irrigation systems, firefighting {since that is flame retardant cable}, off-shore drilling rigs, artificial lifts, mine dewatering, also seawater handling.
- Pumps in electrical hazardous locations used toward combustible liquids either toward the water that may mean contaminated including combustible liquids must do designed not to ignite the liquid either vapours.
